This is an Aunt Minnie right?

Dense calcifications in the basila ganglia and deep central white matter

Answer: Fahr’s Disease (familial cerebral ferrocalcinosis)

keys: 

- Imaging findings noted above

- degree of neurologic impairment does not always correspond with degree of calcification

- can lead to psychosis,  cognitive impairment, dementia, Parkinsons, movement disorders
